I need advice - I know I have to do something about this... and soon!

Why is it that my boys, almost 12 and now 8, and I have to take the negativity, verbal abuse, selfishness, and relentless arguing, daily, as our way of life?  We deserve better and I just need to make it happen for us.  Its hard though when spouse refuses to allow a divorce.  I don't have a ton of money to spend on the divorce as I would like to try to keep my house for my boys.  He has told me on numerous occasions that I am a "bitc#" and that he won't leave, I will be the one to leave?  How can he do that to my children and I?
