I kind of sort of told him that I would cancel the contempt, but now I regret it.

I have a contempt pending against my x for nonpayment of child support and several other issues.  The hearing is later this month.  Once my x got served with the papers, he gave me several post dated checks that will bring him current  by the end of September. (if they clear) He also made good on the other issues.  My mistake was telling him that if he did that, I would either cancel or postpone the contempt.  I am so mad at myslef for doing that. Part of my spousal support can't be collected by the state because it is related to his bonus and is variable. So I have to depend on this showing me is pay stubs each quarter and writing a check. He has been a complete ass throughout this whole process. Therefore, I realize that I maybe should go through with the contempt, so the next time he doesn't pay I don't have to start this process over.  Does the fact that I verbally told him that mean anything?  I do have a lawyer

He certainly can't prove you said anything of the sort to him, unless he was recording you, and with him being a tool it doesn't sound like that is likely!  Talk to you lawyer!!

You could still go through with it, but it will be dropped - and you might end up having to pay HIS attoreny fees (if he has one) when it does - since he made good and can prove it.

You accepted his checks - that means you have let him off the hook.
