Last Name Changd

How do I go about changing the last name of my child? Born out of wedlock has mothers maiden last name, I was listed as the father on birth certificate, but she does not have my last name. What do I need to do to change the last name and about how much does it cost?

I changed my children's name. You have to get a court orded name change. I live in california. It cost $300 here. The process is pretty simple. The court will explain everything when you pick up the paperwork, but basically you just put an ad in the paper for 4 consequetive weeks stating your intentions and bring proof of that to the court. Then the judge orders the name to be changed and gives you paperwork stating what the old name was and what the new name is.
