When do Alimony(Maintenance)payments cease?

Divorce decree entered 1984 awarding unallocated maintenance to ex-spouse along with child support payments as well as transfer of title of fully paid (all equity) marital house. Children now grown living away from either parents (are successful M.D.s) where ex-wife is fully employed as accountant for millionaire cousins (who modulate the earned income/off the books) for her support. I was awarded(?) exclusive ownership of my pension... I will retire this year at age 67...Am I required to continue making these payments to her(she clearly enjoys the financial security which victimized me) even though my indenturment should have ended after 7years? What happens when I stop making these payments upon retirement???Does anyone have this experience? I don't wish to start court actions!!! This marriage lasted 10 years and we've been divorce for over 22 years!!

I agree with Vicki, if you can't find it get a copy from the court house where your divorce took place.
I was married for 13 years. My support never allowed me to live in the status I was accustom too. I live in CA. I was entitled to this support for the rest of my life until my ex took me to court to have it reduced. So I cut it in 1/2 and put an end date to it. Check legal aid for your area.

don't you have your divorce decree somewhere or remember what it said about support? you can only do what it says or go to court to modify it. but usually (and this is not always the case), child support ends at 18 (or after 4 years of college)..... and alimony ends at x years (unless married for a long time (depending on state you divorced in). i really don't think i've ever heard of anyone paying suport until 67 years old. you really need to find your divorce decree.
