Alimony

My husband is dating. I want a divorce. My question is: After 4 years of marriage can I receive alimony?

Highly doubtful here in CA - as we are a no fault state.

If you work, you won't get any at all, if you stay at home, you might get a small amount temporarily - it depends on your entire asset/debt scenario.

every state is different with alimony laws, so please check the white box on this page with state divorce laws for your state.

usually you have to be married longer than 4 years to get alimony.  do you have children?  you will rcv child support if you do?

what about shared assets/debts? that will all need to be split up as well.

some states are fault...others no fault.  again, check your state to see if infidelity matters to your state.  if it does, that may help you with your asset distribution.
