Going through a divorce with someone else in the picture

I recently left my husband of 15yrs there were lots of mental abuse and recently the physcial abuse started. I have two children that were involved in sports. Just before I deceided to leave I met a gentleman at the soccer fields and we became really good friends. Now i'm living in a different state and we would like to visit again, but I have only filed for a legal separation I can not file for a divorce for 6mths until my residencey has been established. Do you think that I could have my children taken away from me because I have met a another man that I think I could be very happy with. Or should I stay away for this man until my divorce is finale.

i think you should wait too. but i also think you should read about abuse understand it...and possibly think about seeking counseling. just because you have left the house, doesn't mean you have fully recovered from that abuse. and your kids probably could benefit from counseling as well. The National Domestic Violence Hotline phone number 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) . They have a website too. www.ndvh.org.

I'm no expert but I have never heard of anyone losing their kids for meeting someone. Dr Laura would say wait, and not bring someone around your kids.
