High child support

I know it seems that child support is calculated based on some State formula but what other considerations are there? I feel that I am paying way too much for 1 child and I still provide everything when the child is with me. What can I do?

Child support can be high but you need to make sure you show the court ALL your current living expenses, debt, etc. as well as health insurance because it is all factored in on the worksheet and they can not ask for a child support figure that would not allow you to pay your other material bills.

to bidbird: because your children live with your ex for the rest of the year...and the house and house bills need to be paid every month to keep it....you want your kids to have a house and food and electric, so you have to help with that.

Great question, I do not understand why we pay child support during the summer when the children are living with me for two and a half months. I have never got a straight answer.
