Quelling the Echo

Gee whiz....without Rob, it sure is quiet over here. I guess Lori and I need to be more talkative or something. What about you, Paula? Aren't you still on your first month with the program?

In an effort to do my part, I'm enlisting DramaGeek's help with NS. After all, there's strength in numbers, right?

We'll see if I lose more working in tandem with him than when I was going solo.

Oh...and I'm actually going to the gym now, too.

spaznskitz -- It's not a matter of willpower so much as motivation. Even if hubby and kids are "fit as hell," we can all benefit from eating better. The key is to not make it all about sacrifice and deprivation. Ensure that you make side dishes for the family that fit within your program or entrees that are similar so you are still fulfilling that "family" dynamic. Something I do is make myself a NS chicken breast patty and eat it with veggies while DramaGeek eats a regular grilled chicken breast with the same sides. All that's different is the portion size. Now with him on board, we'll see if it makes a difference.

Cherbear -- I understand that it feels expensive, but have you added up what you spend per month on groceries, eating out, Starbucks, snacks, etc? For me, the cost is comparable. Yes, $300 (roughly) for a month of food feels pricey, especially when you have to add about $100 of extras (salads, extra protein, etc.), but you know what? I typically spend $100 on Starbucks alone every month. So I just have chosen to eliminate that from my budget this month. You just need to make yourself a priority.

I'm considering going on it myself....but with the 5 kids and my hubby (who is fit as hell and I "hate" him for it lol) I don't know if I have the willpower....
