Not So Home Cooking

Two days left.  Today I went and bought more salads, and some replacement "quick meals."  One of the things I realized during the NutriSystem diet was that one of my eating enemies is cooking.

Yeah I know, that sounds stupid, but hear me out.  Here's the thing. I don't mind cooking. When I have the time, I may not make something elaborite, but at worst I can warm up the grill and toss on some meat and veggies.  Life's good.  The problem is, I don't always leave me enough time to do that.  My Eyes are dashing from my belly to the clock going, "I need to eat now."

With NutriSystem, I didn't have to worry about that.  I could eat quickly, even if I'd boxed myself in a corner.  That's why I've bought "healthy" instant meals.  I need something that I can cook quickly when I realize I haven't eaten.

If I do that, I can continue losing weight rather than maul the Pizza boy at the door.  Which is good, my local pizza place is running out of deliverers.

That's one thing I liked about the diet.  It not only helped me lose weight, but it also showed me the flaws in what I was doing.  Now I can go forward, and eat better.

Ooohhh...steel cut oats were a fave of mine back when I could have carbs (sigh). My fave crockpot recipe is to mix a cup of oats, four cups of water, a cup of dried fruit (cranberries and apricots were my favorite), cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Set it on low right before you go to bed at night, and when you wake up 8 hours later, you'll have a warm, yummy breakfast.

I think steel cut oats refrigerate and reheat very well. You can mix in a tablespoon of peanut butter for protein or have an egg for that added boost!

Thank you very much DFL!  Of course what you're talking about is a complete change in food philosophy.  Not that that's bad at all, it's just hard to do.  Does that mean I won't try?  No, but I do need to digest it (forgive the pun).  I had never thought about the honey in coffee. That's actually a good idea.  Thank you.  You also make a lot of other good points.  You obviously know your nutrition.  I'm a newbie and need to catch up...

Thank you again for taking the time to give me such good feedback!

Hi there :

I you truley want to mantain your weight loss you have to morph into a Grazer. You cannot allow you body to BECOME hungry. You need to eat ver small amounts of food all day long. What we thin people do is eat 10 meals a day. Your body can only process the size of your palm. That is all the food you need for one meal. So waht does that mean??? You need to go a TRADER JOE'S of Whole FOODS, or PCC. or WHILD OATS. They have tones of yummy CLEAN food. What is clean food??? Non chemical  food no GOM geniticall mutated oh yeah you heard. No plastic it leakes and blockes estergin. Why shoud you care your a guy!!! Testical and prostate cancer that's why. You load the pantry with munchy food that is from the earth. What is the test, well if you cannot pull it out of the ground and eat it do not put it in your mouth. Banna is already in a package. Depending whaere you are on your diet you may want to avoid Fruit. Remove sugar and white flower and you will start to melt. If you drink cafe, have it black with honey. Honey is right out of the ground. It also comes in it's own package. Any roasted nuts are crap. DEAD FOOD DEAD BODY. LIVING FOOD LIVING BODY. Carry food in your pockets and eat all the time. If you get a crock pot and get BOB"S STEEL CUT OAT MEAL. BOB"S MILLS are less expensive whole grain options. Ok sm crock put at target, 15.00 then STEEL CUT oatmeal, put 4 cup of H2O, Water to one cup of Oats. You can add cinnanin, cloves, ect.. check calories there are tricky. High Fructouse corn syrup stops your brain from telling your body that you are full!!!
