Wife is not cashing support check

This may be odd, but my STBX is not cashing her support check.  I sent it last week and noticed this week it wasn't cashed.  I've sent her two texts to see if she received it but no response.  All the checks sent out that day were delivered and cashed.  I am concerned she's trying to set me up for nonpayment.  She has stated she would do this during an argument this summer.  I am keeping the texts about asking her and have the duplicate of the check.  Any other thoughts on how to protect myself?

Thanks all for the advice.  I will start sending them certified.  I am sure this will make her angry since she'll have to go postoffice but I need to cover my butt.  This level of stuff is just going to backfire I believe on her.

bank accounts set up for child support don't work - an ex can easily show a statement saying "the non-custodial put money in then just took it right out" even though they actually took it.

there is no way to track who is depositing or withdrawing the money.

Make sure you keep records of each check you write. It may be a good idea to send them via certified mail. You may want to speak with your Divorce Attorney and ask, perhaps, if they would be willing to mail the checks from their office if you dropped off the money.

Humm...my bf has an account designated for his child support that is in his ex's name. Maybe you could "start " her an account..her name only...and then directly deposit the checks to there from your account?

as long as you have duplicate checks and can show to a judge the carbon copies still together in order (where checks for other things have been written before and after) along with bank statements showing other checks cashed in order, that is proof enough.

If you aren't using duplicate/carbon copy checks - start immediately.

Also, start sending them certified, where she has to sign for the envelope.

this can be done via your work check.....sent directly to her.  it will make it easier for records.  but meanwhile, keep the duplicates, keep the emails and maybe use the tool on this site to keep dates/check numbers too. it's the incident report, located on your mystuff page. it's private. ony you can see that.
