CHILD SUPPORT WHO HAS JURISDICTION?

HELLO I HAVE A SOMEWHAT COMPLICATED PROBLEM. I FILED FOR DIVORCE IN AUG 2008. I AM CURRENTLY STANDING BY FOR A COURT DATE. I FILED FOR DIVORCE IN INDIANA. MY MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN SEPARATED FOR 10 MONTHS. I AM IN THE MILITARY AND I HAVE BEEN GIVING HER 1/3 OF MY PAY FOR THE LAST 10 MONTHS. I GAVE HER FULL CUSTODIAL CARE IN THE DIVORCE DECREE. SHE STILL HASN' RESPONDED!!! INDIANA IS A NO FAULT STATE. I HAVEN'T SEEN MY TWO LITTLE GIRLS FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW. SHE REFUSES TO LET ME TALK TO THEM ON THE PHONE OR HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH THEM. THERE IS NOTING I CAN DO UNTIL INDIANA GRANTS ME MY DIVORCE.SHE LIVES IN JAPAN. MY WIFE HASN'T OBTAINED HER GREEN CARD. SHE IS FOREIGN NATIONALIST. ALSO I HAVE BEEN AWAY FOR A WHILE AND WASN'T ABLE TO ESTABLISH MY KIDS SOCIAL SECUITY NUMBERS. WHEN I AM DIVORCED IN INDIANA HOW WILL THEY CALCULATE MY PAYMENTS? MY WIFE STILL DOESN'T HAVE A JOB AND HAS BEEN SMOOCHING OFF HER PARENTS.

Dude, I am from Indiana and my first divorce was there. I am now in the military 21 years and doing number 2 divorce in Florida. Contact a lawyer in Indiana and I hope you got one. The rules for a nationalist of another country not residing in Indiana and what SOFA agreements are there with Japan? They may not recongise it for vistation. You have a long rode ahead and good luck, but use the lawyers, JAG might be some help on the SOFA and international law. Mark

I am a military spouse. And worked for the military servicemen and family services for sometime on bases.

Why don't you go to JAG? It is free, of course...and they can assist you in what rights you have and what to do.

You really should utilize the military while you are in it. They have quite a few very invaluable things you could look into. Try going to a Fleet and Family Service Center on base. They will be able to better direct you to where you have to go.
