I hate snags. They ruin sweaters, towels and diets if you let them.
Tonight I met a snag.
"Hey Snag!"
"Hey Rob, I'm here to thwart you."
Great! Get in line. It starts just after wire coat hangers, and ends just past the child proof cap on my dogs drugs."
"Thanks. I'll be there."
"I bet you will."
That's a snag for you. Usually polite, but ever persistent. Tonight's snag was all about dinner.
See, here's the thing. Twice a month, I lead a writers' group. It's fine, but the group starts at 7pm. My NutriSystem dinner was supposed to be at 7. Dinners aren't really an "on the go" meal, in the program. Still, nothing I could do, so I let it go. I knew I could eat when I got back home.
Tonight's group went long. It seems that some writers like to talk about what they write, just as much as they like to write. Usually not a problem, but tonight, it kept me out until 10pm.
10pm? I've had a NutriSystem meal calling my name since 7! What the heck is that? Usually, if I'm out this late, I'll grab a burger on the way home, eat it in the car and go. Tonight I couldn't. Tonight I went home, made a Chili dish, ate a salad, some veggies, and a piece of wheat bread.
You know what? When I was done, I was glad I did. My meal was pretty good. In fact, it was better than the super salty fast food meal I would have grabbed, and not really more difficult to get.
So I stayed on plan despite my snag. My snag was most disappointed.
I have noticed another issue around my house though: These meals. I'm having to prepare them, and now that I'm preparing all my meals, I have more dishes. I'm having to wash dishes more than I have since I got divorced. Thanks NutriSystem!
I'm telling you, it's always something.
"Hi Rob, I'll be your dishwasher snag this evening…"
