Contempt of court for alimony

My STBX is 10 days late on alimony payment. How long in the state of Alabama do I have to wait to have him arrested for contempt of court. How long does he have to be late before it is considered eligible for his arrest. I know this may seem hard but he refuses to help me and I have been disabled and am on a set income and he left me knowing this.

ok first off, he isn't going to be arrested for being late on alimony. You file for contempt of court and the judge will order him to pay you, he will be given time to get "right" with you, then if he doesn't he will be fined. It is only after a multitude of non payment that a court would consider jailtime for it...and that is rare.

10 days is no big deal to the court. If he has extenuating circumstances as to why he hasn't paid, illness, loss of job etc that will be taken into consideration.
