Early Resolution Conference

I have an order to appear on 11/4 for an Early Resolution Conference with the soon to be ex, an attorney case manager and myself. From what I can glean, it is to hopefully resolve matters without having to go to trial for our divorce. He won't give me alimony, I'm going to have to fight for it.  What do I need to bring with me if anything? I have emails showing he promising to pay me xx amount of dollars, only wanting his clothes and his tools, blah blah blah. Do I really need to be that prepared to state my case? I'm nervous as **ll. The thought of having to face him with a mediator leaves me quite cold. I'm afraid I might lose it and try to punch him one. (I won't, sounds good though). Thanks in advance. - Katt

Hi Paula!  Thank you very much for the info.  We were assigned a mediator, we didn't hire one, I guess it's because we living in AZ I don't know  Anyway, this did help.  I do hope I get the alimony I deserve.  Take care.    Katt.

i think you should be as prepared as possible.  bring everything.  i was told by my lawyer that any written promises of anything meant nothing in court.

first you should do a full financial work up...all expenses/assets/debts...the works.

make a list of what you really want...and another list of what you would settle for.

alimony is a calucation based on many things, and varies per state...so be sure to read the divorce laws for your state. you can do that here. on this page, upper right, is a white box with divorce laws.

think long term..not just tomorrow or this year.  think about future needs and the reality of keeping up your life financially down the road.

here are some articles that i hope will help:
