Looking for a little inspiration- please!

Today, I submitted a huge stack of financial papers to the lawyer and handed over a big fat check.

It tooks me 3 weeks do get the nerve, gumption, courage, chutzpa, whatever, to hand them over once I spent weeks getting them all together. I kept having doubts even though I knew it was the right thing for me.

I've been listening to, of all things, Amy Winehouse "Back in Black" album over and over. Two songs that I just can't get enough of is "Love is a Losing Game" and "My Tears Dry on Their Own."

It gave me the peace that I needed to make the drive over to the lawyers office. I think that when I am finally over my stbx, I'll  be tired of these songs and waiting for the day that I can put away this CD.

Okay, so maybe you can help me make the next step cause I have a long way to go! What saying, song, poem, artwork, whatever, helped/helps you ?

I was married for 4 years, this time, 25 to the 1st wife. My sister said my situation reminded her of a song by Boys To Men (I think?) "Its so hard to say good bye" beautiful harmonies and the meaning sucked my heart out!!
Funny how everytime you turn on a radio there is a song you've heard but did'nt feel the meaning till now!!

My first divorce counseling told me to take "Baby Steps".
Dont expect to jump rite in the dating game (I hate games) till you can look at yourself in the mirror and see me (you) as an attractive person with something good to give. Not take. But give.

This last divorce took me totally by surprise!
When I got home after two weeks out on the road (I drive an 18 wheeler for USXPRESS but and contracted to run Walmart loades) My...now x wife asked me to go to the Lawyers office and sign divorce papers!! What??
She said we have not been compatable since we were married. ?????! I loved her with all my heart. She had arranged for movers to move my personal stuff to a storage building.
She put the $250,000.00 house on the market 4 months ago (without me knowing it) and The trip to the lawyers office was to sign the papers on the house and...!!!!!! then the attorney asked me to see another attorney in the building. .... a DIVORCE attorney with all the I's dotted and the T's crossed!!!  and Alabama! 30 days its done!!
Now with a broken heel 4 weeks ago and an month to month and a half to go in a walking boot! Then back to work.
SO it puts me to the 1st of Nov to mid Nov.
Living at sister and brother in laws home till then.
I feel Im wearing them out talking about it all the time.
I was looking for some site to talk about it instead of to family. HOPE I HAVE FOUND that place.

Good for you.  You have taken a big step and it is hard for anyone doing what you are doing. You are not alone.  You need to move on and money is just an object... it can be replaced.  You need to think of your happiness and what is best for you.  When I am feeling sad and lonely I listen to 70's music to help bring back fun times and crazy memories.

You took the hardest step today and that was the first step by going to your lawyer. I won't tell you the rest is going to be easy cause it isn't but it will get easier. During my first divorce I used to listen to Gloria Gaynor sing I Will Survive and after it was final I would play the Weathergirls singing It's Raining Men, Hallelujah. LOL It was just a little inside joke I had with my daughters to let them know I would be okay. You will be okay too and you will get support from everyone here whenever you need it.

The dust will settle soon enough and you will be able to see your way onto a new start.  You can focus on you for a change.  Maybe it will be a new relationship, a new job or maybe a new place.  The point is that it is a fresh start.  Have you heard Pink's new song, So What?!?!?!  I think you will enjoy it.  Jump up and down on your bed when you sing it!!!  It feels so good!!!  We are here for you!!!

I think this website is a wonderful place to express and share your strength, hope and experience.  What a great start you have already made!
I am phasing through my divorce some 9 years later and although its a pain sometimes, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the freedom and anonymity that severing that union brought me.  I knew the marriage was unhealthly but it was all I'd known.  I was so afraid to even hope for something better.
I can tell you that I am in a much much healthier relationship now.  Its fantastic to have a partner who actually admits his mistakes and tries to rectify them!  WOW!  I am floored every time it happens.  It does happen.  You do deserve it.  You are worth fighting for.
So proud of you for fighting for what you deserve.
