I stumbled upon this while search further.I am far to familiar with this than I would care to admit.Over the course of our 9 1/2 year marriage I have been severely beaten by my wife.September 2005 she came at me with a knife in our bedroom. It was my birthday of course a reason for her to rage. She overturned every piece of furniture in our room while I was laying on the bed.She then began throwing items at me.I was petrified at the manic behavior. When she got no reaction from me she proceeded to slice at my chest and arms with the knife.I was bleeding and cowered into a corner. She continued throwing items at me in the corner, when she cleared enough ,I went along the perimeter and got out of the house.I went to the police department had photos taken and filed a report but did not press charges.Big Mistake by the way.I then went to my sister's home so she could photograph the wounds for me.
When I was calm enough to return home.My wife was so apologetic towards me.She told me it was my fault and I had made her do it!!!
WTF,all research I have read on domestic violence this is always sited that it was the victims fault.I filed the second time for divorce from her.Because of the violence it was expedited. It was 7 months and I was 1 week from getting the divorce. My wife pleaded with me not to divorce, she would seek help, she would do whatever it takes etc.
I halted the proceedings and as soon as she received confirmation from the courts she got right into my face and said,"If you were a real man,you would have went through with the divorce.""You don't have any balls."
Well, you know how that made me feel.
May '08 suffered heart attack. We had been in therapy with psychiatrist for 4 months prior.Recovered and continued all the way through 28 sessions until she went ballistic. He recovered and told me,"There's the reason for the heart attack and you will not survive 5 years if you stay in this marriage.

"...isolate..." - The abuse can come in many forms but the police officers do not always apply their discretion with the same conviction or blind-eye to the law...
