health ins.

My health insurance changed and the coverage is actually better. I changed the deductable from 1000$ to 2500$, now the X says she will not be responsible for the difference in deductables. The decree says I maintain equal coverage to what I had but nothing about deductables. Can you help me?

you don't have the right to arbitrarily change your coverage without first notifying her if she is responsible for part of the cost. The deductable being the same is a "given" meaning it is assumed you would realize that that is part and parcel with the coverage itself.

You are responsible for the extra since you chose to make that change without agreement from the court, or her. Right now, technically - you are in contempt.

On the surface, I have to agree with trisha. But you said it had gotten better, so I assume it covers more (bigger percent, more services, etc.).

The real question is what your X's out-of-pocket expense will be over the period of the deductible. Going from $1K to $2.5K is a lot to "cover" by better coverage.

Paint the whole picture, but be prepared to pay your X the difference if it costs her more. I think that's only fair.

equal coverage would mean the deductible too. That's what I think. Because before the deductible was less and I am assuming she was paying that portion and now doesn't she have to pay more?So how is that equal? Maybe someone who knows more will help you.
