This was the advise from my attorney: Your credit rating will go down but you will have an excuse. What I've done, I contacted all creditors and told them I do not have the property in my possession. (Will it help, I don't know but it's been noted to every creditor.) I cancelled all services that are not necessary, phone line (land line), pest control, etc. I called and took my name off all other utilities because I'm not in the house. So far, yes, I had to give an additional deposit on my apartment. But I already have all my insurance and I've been at my current employer for 2+ years.
Good luck.
