Lonely during the Holidays Without the Kids

How do I pass the time every other Christmas without my children. It is tough not seeing them Christmas morning. They are only 5 and 7 years old. My ex and I switch off every other Christmas. We are on good terms. Can I ask if I can come over Christmas morning to see them open presents? Lonely in Tallahassee!

Before my ex moved out of state, we would split the Christmas Vacation up. Basically we would alternate years doing the following: One parent gets the kids from the day school lets out until Christmas day at 2pm, and the other would get them from Christmas Day at 2pm until the day before school lets in. Every year you alternate so each of you can have Christmas morning. As for Santa well he would come to the house that the kids woke up at. Out of all the arrangements in my decree, I would have to say this one has been easy to live with. If you are good terms with your ex, she should be ok with this idea. Happy New Year!!

Do you get to see them Christmas Eve?? With me and my ex, the kids woke up at my house, then they went with their Dad and his family for Christmas Breakfast and he brought them home in the afternoon to spend the evening with my family. If you live close, there should be no reason you both cant see your kids on Christmas. If you are close with your ex, im sure she'd let you come there to see them open presents but if she doesnt, respect her decision.
