Want to leave.. but how ???

I have been with my husband for 14 years all together. We have had hardly the perfect relationship, he got physical with me right in front of our 3 children and I absolutely despise him for it. No matter how badly he's ever treated me in the past I could always make up the excuse that he was the BEST father because he was. Now that I don't have that excuse anymore I am empty and completely cold towards him. I want to leave and fast but he reminded me how when we refinanced they made me sign the deed off to be put in his name only. Long story. I am applying at every job I can think of for full time employment and for the first time I feel like he has me by the you know what! I don't know what the hell to do :(

just because the deed is in is name, doesn't mean you aren't entitled to your share of the marital home...who's name is on it is irrelevant if it was purchased while you were married.

I get that you can't afford an attorney, but consultations can be free - at least get an idea of where you REALLY stand.

Good luck!

Here I am a year later embarassed to admit the truth but there it is. The good news is I am getting myself out of debt I looked at an apartment and fell in love with it. I won't have the money to move out til after Christmas. He has an account on here.. I find that very funny that he's looking for sympathy.

I forgot all about my post on here.. You have to have $ to hire a lawyer, I was a SAHM for years.  I am working now and I'm trying to save here and there.  Thank you both for your posts, I appreciate it

If he hit you, you can get an order of protection to keep him out of the house--get him to leave.  Even if he forced you to put the deed in his name the house is probably still marital property.  I agree with the other poster.  Do not stop, do not pass go, consult a lawyer immediately.

start squirelling away money. $10 here $20 there. start saving. You could always go to a domestic violence shelter or turn to family. You need a lawyer too. You have rights!!! Start documenting EVERYTHING! but hide it so he cant find it. I feel bad for you and am thinking of you!
