Challenge or group support?

I am half way to my weight goal of 25 pounds. Okay so ALMOST to my goal. I have 15 more pounds to go and I am losing steam. You would think this was the easy part but NOPE it's not. I can eat right but I have a heck of a time getting up early to exercise. Somehow the warm sheets and soft pillow beckon a lot more than the cold living room and obnoxiously fit people on the tv. Anyone up to a little online support group? Thoughts? Ideas?

Ok, once again, I only got 3 days in last week I'd give you my excuses, but they'd only take up space. The reality is, I didn't work out. So today I weighed in, and I gained a pound. That means over all I'm only -1 now. I do have 2 days in this week so far. Yea! We'll just push through to next.

I got off to a fast start Wednesday morning. I slipped on ice and went down so fast it startled me. I had a wonderful view of the full moon while lying on my back beside of my car. After making sure I didn't break anything I just sat there for a few seconds and laughed. Now I had to figure out how to get up when since I was surrounded my ice. It was not a pretty sight but I managed to scoot back up to the sidewalk on my behind. I shook every fiber in my body but the doc says I will heal in about a week. Sorry SuYin, I'll have to take a rain check on the running. Shaun T (Hip Hop Abs) will have to wait a few days too!

OK I am letting crap consume me again. Although I have been really good at keeping up my emotional and mental health lately...I haven't done much for myself phsyically. I let me arthritic pain be an excuse and need to stop doing that. I am going to go on a 60-day commitment starting today. 60 days doing something pysical everyday. I have been up and down with this so far this month but going to try to re-vamp this again. After 60 days it should become just a daily part of your routine so I am really going to try to keep some accountability to myself on this. Even if it's just a walk with the dog.

Welcome aboard Cathy Jean! Go running with SuYin, She'll help you with the weight! SuYin, Running? You are my hero! Keep it up! I only did 3 days last week, I did 2 days of cardio DVD and 1 day of weight training. I wasn't surprised when I didn't lose anything. BUT, I didn't gain either. So WOO HOO! I'm still at -2. This week I've already got 2 days in, and I plan on getting 3 more! Oh and this is my "long walk" week. I do a 9 mile walk around town once a month. I skipped NOvember and December, but I'm starting again this week.

I'm ready to re-define and start a new chapter! I would like to join your group. I was sucked into a TV infomerical and bought Hip Hop Abs. I'm 55 and I'm not sure I even have any abs but I do like music so I thought it would at least get me moving and fill the silence in my apartment. My goal is 10 pounds at a time. I need support!!

Hi. I was so depressed. I have been walking/running almost every day (which is HUGE for me because it is really cold here!) and i hadn't lost ONE single pound. I went to the doctor. Sure enough something was wrong -- nothing serious -- but enough to literally shut down my metabolism. He gave me some pills, change some medication i was on and he says now i should be back on track. I went running today -- yes, you read that right -- I RAN. Woohoo!!!! I will post on my weight loss (or gain, yikes!) so that we can all encourage one another. Go Team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, in light of the job news I've posted...I alredy cancelled. I was HOPING I would be going out in celebration of a new job. But, now I am going to save the money, stay in, and I WILL work out. Besides, now at least I know my son will get his homework done, get a bath, and get in bed on time and don't have to depend on Mr. Online Poker to not getting it done.

So don't cancel. Make that your workout! Remember, emotional health is important too. If your not going to work out, it's better to be happy with friends than sulking alone. Get out there! Do 50 smile lifts! Do it ! Do it ! Do iTTTT!! Feel the burn? Oh, thats just the chips and salsa...

Yeah, I guess I just like to make myself suffer if I miss a day. Mostly becasue I am still beating myself up for loosing all the progress I made like a year ago. I didn't get to workout last night because as soon as I got home I had to leave again to make a trip to Target an the grocery store. Then it was dinner time, homework time, bath time, and quickly check my email before going to bed time. Very frustrated about that becuase I am supposed to be going out after work today with some friends. I tend to let my depression get the better of me and will probably end up cancelling at the last minute and not going at all and staying at home to sulk. Trying not to over think it or that's what I'll do.

I don't know about everybody else, I stick with the old Nike commercial, "just do it." If I have a day where I don't do anything fine. Make sure I pick it up tomorrow.

Thanks. I have a big problem with motivating myself. If something goes wrong in my day I tend to let it affect me & not end up working out. How does everyone find to keep going??? Just looking for new suggestions.

Of course you can join! That's why we're here! And I hear ya on the appetite issue too! I pretty much surrender to it and work that much harder. I'm working out for health too, weight loss is a happy side effect. I found 2 years ago, I was just lethargic, and my mind wasn't working the way I thought it should. My office is in f the house, so I get little to no exercise. Now I work out, it's much better. I still shoot for weight, just because it's an easy target to shoot for, and working out without a goal is practically impossible for me. Welcome to the group!

If it's OK I'd like to jump on this bandwagon. I have a goal of 30 lbs. to loose. I was doing really great until I let all the pressure, stress, and tension get to me the last half of 07. This is one of my resolutions of 08 to myself and I really need to loose it to feel better and for my health. I know a lot about health and exercise and can advise all my friends forever and a day about these matters except when it comes to myself for some reason. I have a problem with making good food decsions when I am depressed or feeling hopeless. I have been consistantly been getting better at being more active into this new year. Working out, taking walks, getting to the park with my dog and son. However, I have a hard time dealing with the dramatic increase of appetite when I start getting more active! I get frustrated that I feel so famished ALL the time. Any suggestions for this is greatly appreciated!

Who knows BP! I did a post about working out in early December. I might return to the concept again. You're right, it's great for the high, and it's also a great distraction. I've been doing it for about 2 years now. I just fall away over the holiday because I'm so busy with other stuff. My job keeps me sitting at a desk all day, so I get very little movement. I work at home too, so I don't even get to walk to the car, or burn traffic stress calories. I've come a long way. I have a pic from a few years ago where I'm holding my niece. it looks like I'm ready to eat her. When I went back and saw my family for my Grandfather's funeral, they couldn't believe how much weight I'd lost. That's also a great adrenaline boost. I'm just happy to not be sluggish and lethargic anymore.

"Endorphins are endogenous opioid biochemical compounds. They are polypeptides produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. In other words, they might work as 'natural pain killers.'" These stopped kicking in back in July of 2007 when I exercised 1-3 times daily but it did briefly kill my pain. I had to do something with my life in the first three months of my separation and the by-product of this was that I lost weight rapidly; and, I was told that I looked healthier. Hmmm... I started doing weights and built up more upper body bulk; and, again, I was told I looked healthier. Now, I do exercise 1-2 times daily; and, of course, I miss the "runner's high" but I do get a much better high - life! Are you planning on moving this to a journal post?

Ok. It's a new year, I'm starting fresh. I worked out on weights yesterday. I did cardio today. All the holiday snacks are gone from the fridge. I'm ready to go! I weighed myself today. I'm up. Not a surprise. So, today is my new start point. My overall goal is to loose 30 pounds. My short term goal, is 15. Each week I'll mark my progress. since today is start day, today is 0. Lets get everyone joining in! Who's with me?

I'll be at my window doing "indoor exercise" and cheering you on! I did some cardio yesterday. I was going to do weights today, but I have writers' group tonight, and I can't get in the routine in time. I'd say "maybe when I get back," but I know that won't happen. I need to get back into a strong routine.

OK this is it. The beginning of a new year and a new me. I do not plan on making any resolutions. Nope. I always get mad at myself because i dont keep them. But i am going to keep trying to stay on a healthier path. I weighed myself today. eeewwww. I am going to weigh myself every 10 days. I dont know why just sounds like a good idea. After i weighed myself i went running - maybe i should weight myself everyday. It is ridiculously cold outside and i was the only person on the streets but i did it. i ran -- okay maybe i walked a little bit too. the point is i actually got my heart rate up from the sloth-rate it's always on. Anyone with me?

Yeah, I fell off the wagon into a plate of fudge. When it's gone, and I shake out of the sugar coma, I'll get back to where I need to be.

SuYin, I'm with you. I've decided that doing this the week before Christmas was a losing battle. So I'm being careful and once the leftovers are gone I'm good momma again. BUT I did manage to skate through all of this without GAINING any weight so that's half the battle! Good luck everyone!

OK I didn't count shopping as exercising so I actually went running this morning. I almost died - wine last night and running in the cold this morning did not make a good pairing. I'm starting my diet on january 2nd. How many times have you heard that before? Okay, I'm going to start my diet when the leftovers run out. That makes sense, right?
