How to get rid of a poor dad?

I have joint custody of my 4yo son. He has health issues and needs a special diet containing items only made from scratch in a "safe" home. He has had these issues for 2 years. Ex has no understanding of any of the medical piece of these issues and only asks about it when someone tells him to. Ex does NOT participate in the medical care of our son. He visits with ds about 3 days a month and drives him home from daycare about 2-3 days a week, spending NO other time with him. NO contact with him on days he does not see him. Routinely takes trips to visit his parents WITHOUT ds. Routinely changes days he can visit with ds frequently without notice. Runs errands on ds days instead of staying home to play and bond. Appears to be motivated by money only with regards to ds's care. I strongly desire full legal and physical custody of ds. To the point of having ex stop paying child support in order to keep him away from ds. There is no obvious physical or emotional abuse. But I do fear for his health and well being. How can I convince ex to "sign off"?

Men will never take care of the kids the way Mom does. You should be lucky that he spends time with him at all, alot dont. They move on with their life and the mother is left to do everything. If he is trying, you gotta give him that but if its putting your sons life in danger, you might want to take him back to court for modified visitation.

Wow, how sad! I was afraid that would be your answer. Luckily I am pretty devious and kniving.... there's got to be a way to get him to sign off ... now to think of it. I think my moment will come when he's broke again and begging to lower child support. hmmm

i can relate. my ex does just about everything you list here...and doesn't pay support. he is unemployed and does not seem to mind. i've talked to a lawyer about it and child support and visitation have nothing to do with one another. the only way you can get full custody is if 1. your ex agrees and signs away his rights or 2. he is convicted of some horrible crime...and even then, it may be a tough fight in court. at this point i've started looking at my ex like a long lost uncle who shows up out of the blue.
