maintenance,unemplyed wife

I wanted to make the split with my STBX as quickly and painlessly as possible.I thought by trying to work out as many issues as possible would help in the HIGH lawyer fees.I was laid of and now am collecting U.E.Needless to say it's been a struggle to make ends meet.I am having difficulty making my rent and bills to say nothing of food.My STBX and I hashed things out and agreed on pretty much everything.I will have a very hard time meeting my lawyer fees.I spoke with him today and he strongly advises me to go for maintenance since I have been on U.E for one year now and where will I be later financilly.I am currenty looking into gov. aid to continue my schooling and to on day be able to support my family. My lawyer suggested using his asst. more because she would be less expensive. He feels I have a very strong case considering we were married for 10 yrs.And then there is also the financial burden he placed the family in with his porn useage which cost us our van and later our our home. The judge told him to refrain from porn use and sex by phone, but he hasn't

Yes your situation is a little confusing and complicated.  From the details provided, it sounds like you are a great candidate for some type of spousal support payments and you need it and deserve it.  Courts consider the length of the marriage and contributions when setting the amount and marital contributions (both on a monetary level and in a homemaker capacity).   You may also want to consider  working this out with each other to keep costs down or if it does become problematic you may be entitled to attorney fees.
Good luck with everything!

My lawyer feels I have an excellent chance of getting maintenance because of the 10 yr. marriage and the fact that after my U.E. payments run out I have no way to support my children during the time i'm planning to go to school

i'm sorry this is happening.  i'm a little confused. you two had an agreement and now your lawyer wants you to keep fighting....?

is it in your best interest to keep fighting and incurring more fees?  or is it better to accept the deal you two had and start to move on with your life?
