Desertion Ohio- How do I do this without spending a lot of $ ?

My husband is in the US illegally. he deserted the marriage 2 years ago and I live in Ohio. He is somewhere in the west US but I am not certain- possibly Colorado. Is it possible to file for a divorce without him being here and is it possible to have a fast and inexpensive divorce considering the circumstances. I think that it is a great risk for me to be tied to him in his present illegal situation.Thank you for any advice you can offer.

I do not know the legalities of this situation. I am not an attorney but will look into the "state resources" on this site and see what it says about your state.

Barkley, Thank you so much for the advice. I read that you could still get a divorce if you have been deserted and dont know where the spouse is. Do you know if this is valid? I will definitely call around for some legal aide as well.

You definitely need to get legal advice on this. A less expensive way is to hire a paralegal in the field in your area. You can also hire someone to track him down but that becomes expensive. I agree with you though that you need to get out as quickly as possible.
