My husband is starting to act really strange...

I haven't told him I want a divorce yet, but the signs are pretty obvious. Last week, I told him I didn't want to make love to him anymore, and he went ballistic. He left the house and when he came back he told me something that scared me to death... he told me that he felt like "killing me" when I told him that but I wasn't worth going to prison over. Needless to say I am sleeping on the couch now, and I am scared to do anything at this point.

Also, make sure that you TELL someone that you can trust in case something WOULD happen to you.  Even if you go to the police and file something with them. At least it is documented.
I was told the other day that my bf's ex appears to them like someone from a movie that killed her ex and his new wife in their sleep. It happens. Be careful!

I would be very careful. Hopefully you don't have kids that are seeing this.
I think I would be out of there. It is not worth you getting hurt over. Go somewhere safe. Somewhere where he would have a hard time hurting you, with some of the things that people do these days.....you can't be too safe.

he has never hit me because he knows that would cause him serious problems since he has a state job. But he is mentally abusive and to me that is worse.

that is really scary.....I would think about moving out and getting away from him physically if you think you are in harm's way.
