I'm not getting my support money, what do I do?

We had our court date on April 10th. The rough draft was made. It stated that my ex has to pay me my support money by May 1st.  It's now June 1st and he has not and has said he won't until he signs the paper. I have asked my lawyer for help and he has told me it will cost him more money to do that, which he knows I don't have until I'm paid. I'm caught in a catch 22 and don't know how to get out of this!

ok, let's not start bashing attorneys because we want to be paid for the work we do - you wouldn't go to your employer and give them free hours, for the heck of it....

the papers that you call a "rough draft" are not legally enforceable without sugnatures - they were expected to be signed and apparently there is something in them that is being contested - meaning - your ex has every right to refuse to pay right now until you two come to some sort of agreement.

You can't go to legal aid, because you already have an attorney, you will be turned down. Child Support enforcement will take you months.

You need to find a way to pay your attorney to get a court date. As you were advised, use a credit card, or maybe borrow from a family member.

If you have to, put the attys. fees on a credit card until everything gets straightened out. This is why I hate attorneys.  My ex's atty. did the same thing to him. So he is already 2 months late with your money. Borrow from family if you have to. I'm sorry you are put in this position. I know you must be desperate. Just try to stay calm (impossible to do) and work thru it like a problem at work or with one of the kids. Since your ex is already in default you might be able to garnish his wages and then your money will come straight from his employer. Ask your atty. about that.
Some of this I am not totally sure about  but it gives you a starting point with the attorney. Good luck

You can go to the court and file for emergency money from him and shame on your lawyer for not helping you. Boy now I see why a lot of women have bad stories of lawyers.
Yummy call legal aid, call a crisis center to get your answer ok. I am just starting to go through a divorce and my lawyer has all ready put papers together for emergency money in case stbxh decides not to pay me when he should.
Good Luck!
