domestic violence injury as part of settlement?

My husband and I are going to mediation for our divorce this friday.  I just realized i will lose insurance coverage.  I am going to eventually need neck surgery because he strangled me last June.  I discovered last Oct. I have a new herniated disc.  I would like to get something additional in the settlement versus sue him separately for personal injury.  Has anyone ever heard of this?  I cannot pay for anything.  He is all lawyered up and I'm a stay at home Mom with nothing.  We were only married 5 years.  We have 3 kids  Any comments would be helpful.  This is in FL

I only got to this today and realize your mediation was today - I hop it went ok and that you didn't agree to anything you weren't comfortable with.

I suggest you go to the courthouse and apply for legal aid.

As far as your settlement - you can't get more for your injuries - it is something you have to sue him seperately for. You can request that he keep you on his insurance for a period of time until you get settled intoa job where you have your own.
