calculating alimony, child support...

im in mississippi, married for 6 yrs, 2 kids(not in school yet), 100k take home, owe on 2 vehicles, she has a 401k and roth(i don't and i partially funded these), she quit working 4 yrs ago(kids), i have 1.3 million in debt on my business(over in 14yrs). house has sold leaving about 40k in equity. ive got about 35k saved up but no personal retirement, no credit card debt, in a 50-50% "no fault" divorce(no grounds). *my question is i want to give her and the kids what is fair and what will provide for them, but i don't know what that is? i'm open to lump sum, monthly (for her or kids), college... she's coming in very aggressive(even for an "at fault" divorce. i just don't want to get caught up with something i can't live with? help please!

The most cost-effective way is to get the wife to agree on an accountant. Have the accountant tell you what the split should be. Some accountants are Certified Divorce Financial Planners. That would be the best choice for your situation.

You sound like a great guy and want what is best for your kids. I admire that. You need to consult with your attorney and see what your options are. It sounds like your wife does have a little savings in her name. See what works best for you if the lump sum helps or paying each month. This is all up to you and your attorney and what your wife agrees to. Is she going back to work now?
