Do you believe?

Someone recently said that: "all marriages are just one really mean fight away from divorce..." Is that true? Where do you stand?

Not exactly. I think each fight could be a straw; and we all know enough of them will eventually breaks the camel's back.

I enjoyed being married, very much. My parents have been happily married 64 yrs. The problem was... I really thought my husband was happy, and loved me very much. We did everything together, and we always had fun doing it. We never faught, called each other A name in 17 yrs. It was my children, I guess. Or, so he is telling me now. I tried to be a good, fair mom. My husband say's now, I have been a horrible mother, and filed for divorce. So, I don't know... It's just a matter of meeting the right person., don't you think. Don't give up.

Fighting or disagreements are healthy. A good fight makes your relationship stonger. Also, after several years of marriage you learn to "pick your battles' . Life is too short.

I think that sometimes the really mean fight can draw you closer. It depends on the fight ,and it depends on the reason for the fight. I mean that's like telling a smoker "You're one cigarette away from your death." and they get hit by a bus while smoking. It's too ambitious. If both parties are truly dedicated, I think that they can work through any fight. Maybe I'm naive for a guy in the middle of a divorce. I dunno...

i would agree with this with one caveat. you can have a really mean fight and get over it.......if you talk about it and are forgiving people. it's the people who don't talk that get into trouble i think.
