Couseling, should we even try?

My husband and I have agreed to counseling. He told me that he's only doing it for the kids and isn't in it for the marriage anymore. Should we even try?

Maybe this will be a good place to talk candidly without arguing.  It probably won't keep the marriage together but maybe you both can realize your strengths and weaknesses so you can both learn and grow.

Councelling is something that both parties should have BEFORE getting married!!!

I've been on the other side.  In my case, it was the counseling that showed me what I needed to do -which was leave.  My wife met the counselor first, then me.  I explained my feelings and the counselor basically berated me for wasting her time.
A counselor can help you process and deal with your feelings, but she can't change how you feel.  Find out why he wants out (if you don't know already).
I will say that even if the relationship does end, you will at least look back at your therapy sessions and be happy that you tried (in vain or not).
