Good Spouse Bad Spouse, What to do?

A friend of mine is getting divorced. She has little money and can't afford an attorney, her husband has good money and is verbally aggressive and has occasionally hit her. He has an attorney and she doesn't. Both are good parents. What should she do?

She needs to do what she can to hire an attorney.  She can contact Legal Aid for free legal advice. She needs to have someone on her side to help her out financially and to make sure she has equal custody to the children.
