FILE FOR EXTENSION -HELP!

I am seeking advice ... I have filed for a do it yourself Absolute Divorce in NC. Followed the guidelines according to the Info Packet and have set a court date in accordance with the guidelines.

However, I have now found out thru my ex that she has filed thru her attorney a motion to extend it out an additional 30 days. Which I understand she can do in order to answer to the complaint. She wants to use my court date for settling the QDRO affects which have been defined by our Separation Agreement. In other words she is piggy backing off the divorce date to save court costs. My question, and I cannot get an answer, is:

Who resets the Court Date?, or does her lawyer settle via the motion of extension and they set the date thru the clerks office.

Do I still need to show up on the original date that I assigned when I set the Calander from date of service.

I am so confused now, it was simple whebn it was just the Absolute Divorce!!!!!!

she isn't piggy backing - a court date is a court date - what ends up going on at it is up for grabs in any case.

If the two of you want to work out at least some of the details that day and finish it off later through her attorney so be it - show up.

If her attorney filed paperwork, the court will reassign a court date and should be mailing you a notice. If you do not receive one in a timely manner, call the court house and find out when it was changed to.

this is confusing. i would send a note to your ex and ask her to find out from her lawyer.   he's not going to want to mess up court dates, etc.  and she's the one paying the legal fees.
