In California, how old does a child have to be to choose which parent to live with full-time?

My 14 year old daughter wants to live with my mother in Arizona... she is tired of the visitation schedule and wants to just live in one place.

whatever the reason - she doesn't have the choice to choose.

she must not be too happy with either of you if she doesn't want to live in either of her parent's homes...so I seriosly suggest you don't blame all of her problems on him...I hope take some accountability.

You two as parents have to figure out how to end your war...

It has nothing to do with not wanting to parent her... has to do with her being used as the "middle" person to deliver messages to me from her step-father... with her tired of taking care of her brother for him because he is lazy... of her feeling guilted by him into doing what he wants... she is in therapy ONLY because the judge ordered him to do so... even then, he waited until she started self-injuring herself before he decided to take her... (I couldn't because he told the insurance company not to give me any information about her so I could schedule an appt w/ someone covered under her insurance, even though we have joint 50-50 custody... and I don't have insurance.)

There is only one state , Georgia, that has laws regarding a child's right to choose, otherwise, it is judical discretion and Califonia courts frown on children being brought into the court process. Parents are the ones who make the decisions, not children.

If your daughter was tired of school, would you let her quit?

That reasoning is not enough to even try to change things.

You can't send her to your mother's...and a judge would NEVER approve that arrangement. If you can't parent your child, if she ends up anywhere, it will be full time with her legal father.
