Dilemma

Current Dilemma

My ex doesn't answer the phone when my kids are with him.

What should I do to make him answer the phone?

Buy them a phone but call only when you need too - in the morning or at night.  This way your ex doesn't feel like you're intruding on his time.

With the exception of an emergency you shouldn't be calling your children while they are on visitation.

Why do you have to call him when he has the kids? Make arrangements with him when he picks the kids up. He probably wants quality time with the kids without you involved. Only call if it is important. Or make an agreement to have the kids call you before they go to bed.

I bought my oldest daughter (10 years old) a cell phone. It's great that we can contact each other along with my other children. The disadvantage is my ex uses her to communicate when he refuses to talk to me.

I would buy them cells. You can get cheap kids phones with numbers preprogrammed in them. THat way there aren't any misdials or people using their phones for other purposes.
