Our adult son is hospitalized and I don't want to run into the STBX

Our adult, married son is hospitalized.  This is the second time in  three months.  He has an on going serious medical condition.  My son is in a hospital that is over an hour away from his home and mine.  I wanted to visit him but was concerned of running into his father there.  He was there most of the time.  He is retired and has no obligations, and I work and could not be there at the time of the emergency surgery.
How do I go about visiting my son without all the hassle and the likelyhood of an uncomfortable situation?

I have not spoke with my stbx in almost a year.  He is not a happy person to say the least.

Your son must come first.  If your ex has any concern at all for your son and his well being he will act accordingly.  Your son needs both of you for love and support.

Could you speak with your daughter in law and explain how you feel?  Maybe she could speak to your ex before you arrive?

Life is precious and too short to hold onto past hurts.  Your marriage is over, but the fact remains you have at least one child together and that will never change.

For your sons sake both of you need to at least be civil, and concentrate on your sons recovery.

God Bless all of you.
