Divorce because of sexual abuse to children

I need some help, about 7 years ago my sister found out that her children were being sexual abused by their father (she was married to him) The father is currently in prison for the crime he did against the children.  There is a court order for the father to not contact the children until after the age of 18.  She has not gotten a divorce because she cant afford the cost of one, because she is raising the children on her own and is financially unable to afford one.  Does anyone have any suggestion that would help her to obtain a divorce at little or no cost to her.  (she is in the state of NY) I would appriciate any responses.

i posted an answer in the question area.  basically she needs to seek out legal aid or ask the prison system if they have referrals.....i'm sure they hear this question all the time.
