To call it quits or not to call it quits

Do you stay married with a 6 and 16 year old, just to keep both parents in the house together to raise them..........even if the parents (mainly mother) is miserable being married to this man and wants out???

Hi mommy.  I was in the same boat for the last year or so.  My children are 16, 13, 10.  It has torn me to make them children of a "broken" home.  I have read countless articles and books online and in the bookstores as to the effects of divorce on children.  It is much better for them to see their 2 parents "living" life rather than just "living together" miserably.  I'm on the path of separation, it's been tough, so very tough and we haven't told the kids yet ~ but we both have attorneys and will begin mediation next week.  Best of luck to you !

that's the biggie question.   everyone has a different opinion here.  but it really depends on what you think you are offering your children married versus divorced.  if they are seeing figths and anger and resentment and a non loving environment, then you need to show them something better.   if they aren't seeing that...and you're just not happy...you need to think about counseling and therapy to see if this marriage can be repaired.
