How do I stop the thoughts?

I find myself doing ordinary life tasks and then BAM, some small detail sends my mind on a torrid flurry of thoughts of how he did me wrong. How he lied, how he made me feel at fault, how someone I trusted disposed of me so easily.

I agree with Cathy Jean. You are responsible for your own happiness. No one else. Just you. Iii s hard to go on. I think an occasional pity party is quite acceptable. Just don't dwell on the past like why he lied, why he hurt you. Who knows, maybe he doesn't even know. Divorce is just like a death. Shock, hurt, anger and then acceptance. Once you accept that it didn't work out and the reason doesn't matter, you will find yourself smiling a whole lot more and look at it this way, now you are free from that lies, the betrayal and everything else. You are truly free. Embrace it and give him one final kiss off if you know what I mean.

I just got Joel Osteens book for Christmas and have just started to read it. Already I feel better and seem to look at things differently. I think you should try it. You can get it at Wal-Mart for about $16. Small investment for such great help.

I got the Joel Osteen book on tape - How to Become a Better You - which focuses on how to think positively, do the right things and move on when you have negative people or situations in your life - try it!

Molly, We can't love if we don't open our souls up to vulnerability. With that always comes the risk of being hurt. I hurt too. It seems as if I have cried all evening. I allow myself to have a pity-partyevery now and then. After that I feel better and have the courage to move on. We don't "have" good days, we "make" good days and as time passes we start making more and more good days until the hurt begins to fade. YOU choose how you feel. Choose to feel strong. Choose to be happy. Choose to hold your head up high. You Can Do It!

I don't think you stop them. You just have to talk and get it out and decide whether you are going to let it affect yo positively or negatively.Take from it a lesson, and at least you don't have to still look at his face anymore.
