changing "custodial parent"

Ok, here's the sitch......I need to get our seperation papers changed so that I am the "custodial parent" (don't know why I agreed to him in the 1st place) so I can qualify for housing assistance.......he thinks I just want to stick him for child support. Said he'd think about it.

Is he the primary custodial parent ? Why not joint custody. Eliminates child support and gives each of you more time to explore your new freedom and share in raising your kids.
