GO USA MEN's SOCCER

GO USA Men’s Soccer…

Yes a bright spot in my day. So as I write to celebrate the United States victory over the world’s number one ranked team, Spain, I find irony from within…giving me hope,,,

Much of the press called this game a David vs Goliath type match.  The US team had almost zero chance of beating the world’s best soccer team; a match most said should never have taken place.  BUT it did and the US won!!!

DIVORCE a monumental match to overcome, maybe not a David vs Goliath for some, but for me a match I never envisioned participating in and one that I fear on a grand scale!   Why the fear?  I don’t fear my character or integrity; in fact I count on it.  I don’t fear the workload; because you can expect me to leave it all out on the field, to give all that is needed and then some.  Is it that I fear the match itself knowing that regardless of the end result, no one really wins in this game? IDo I fear taking that first step – the one that commits to the life changing process? Do I fear the unknowns that I know are apart of the upcoming process especially those dealing with the kids?  No matter how much you prepare it is a battle purely from your heart & gut.

Countless times during the match, the US players in total exhaustion were laying their bodies out to deflect a shot from going into our goal.  Ahhh my emotions were all over the place as I watched the minutes tick by slowly.   But the US players remained focused to the task and with faith, hard gritty teamwork and a little luck, pulled out a victory for the ages.  The irony is all around, overcoming insurmountable obstacles, laying it all on the line while the opposing team takes shot after shot after emotional shot at you.  An exhausting battle filled with varied emotions, etc... I have no real questions, but for those soccer fans / sports fans alike, you can at least appreciate the truest of underdog upsets!!!! So watch the SportCenter highlights and cheer on the USA this Sunday, as they play in the finals of this prestigious event.  If anything, it gets me through the next few days with a smile, while I face such uncertainty.    Soccerhewitt cheers, GO USA!!!

I'm not a big soccer fan but I'm a big sports fan so I can appreciate a win like this.  I love the analogy.  It's amazing how things in life mirror what we are going through.  It helps.  You were very eloquent and passionate when you were comparing the sport you love to your life situation.  We are in the midst of the biggest game of our lives.  I have always been taught good sportsmanship and how to win and lose with integrity.  I really don't think anyone wins the game of divorce, but we can hold our heads up high and say we did our best.  Go USA!

What an awesome game that was.  It think most americans don't understand what am amazing upset this actually was due to the lack of popularity here in the states. Hats off to the american team, looking forward to the World Cup!
