What Did YOU Do With Your Wedding Ring??

I'm just wondering what I should do with my wedding ring when I'm divorced?  It's a really nice diamond ring w/a diamond band.

I don't really want to keep it and see it (for memories sake), yet I don't want to pawn it because it costs alot of money and I wouldn't get crap for what it's worth.

What did you guys do with your rings/bands???

I keep it in the ashtray in my truck.  I don't smoke - it's just in there with change and gas receipts.

I only took it off for three days after her first affair.  Once I learned of the second, I took it off and filed.

I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with it.

I searched this topic tonight, "What did you do with the rings", because I was planning to take mine tomorrow to a jeweler who buys estate jewelry, along with the other items he gave me.  All the things he's put me through make me feel no attachment at all to these things.  I've always loved my engagement ring - it's pretty and very unique - but I have no sentimental attachment to it anymore.

I plan to use the money to pay for the divorce.  I sure have enjoyed reading other people's creative ways to spend their ring money, though.  On another thread on this topic from over a year ago, some of the women were buying boob jobs with the ring money.   LOL!   Made me smile tonight.  :)

After reading all your comments, I am going to take mine off and wear my grandmother's ring instead.  She died when I was very young, and it means more to me than the wedding ring I'm wearing now.

I sold the gold & kept the diamonds. The money I made from the gold helped to pay for my attorney. The diamonds I am keeping for my children, someday. After all, their father & I once loved each other very much and they were a product of that love.

well making a new ring or find a jewary store that can use the stones in another ring then  sell them the gold from the wedding ring to help pay for the ring you just had made. That way you have  pretty rings for pretty hands. Me I cut mine  so I could put it in my nose  becuase that is the way I  was lead around  by the X.

I gave my daughter my rings. I also divided my other diamonds from him between my daughter and granddaughter.

I have it in a place where I don't have to see it right now.  Once I think of something exciting and liberating to do with it, I'll discard it.

I have a skydiving trip coming up this summer, wonder if I can get rid of it then??? Whatever it is, I want to make sure I get some satisfaction out of it.

Zuki, that's a GREAT idea!  I never thought about that.  I can have them, melted (or whatever they do) and made into something else!

I also got a "past, present, future" (the 3-diamonds) earrings, ring, necklace.

Wow, I'll be blinging!  haha!!  Thanks!

My great-aunt left me her engagement ring. So when I got married, I designed my engagement ring using her diamond. Stbxh only wanted a plain gold band which he promptly never wore after about 2 years (said it interfered with his guitar playing)...yeah right, whatever!

Once he asked for the divorce, I took them off and put them in my jewelry box along with his wedding band. He doesn't even know I have his....he thinks he "lost" it!

Currently wear my great-aunt's engagement ring, with a sapphire replacing her diamond, in it's place. It's an unusual ring and doesn't really look like an engagement ring!

Once divorce is final, I will bring mine and stbxh's rings into a jeweler and have a totally different item made...perhaps a dolphin ring, who knows?

Emerald with diamonds around it, mmhmm...  :-)

He wanted the ring back and I said Hell No, for what he put me thru, no way.

Aw. My ring was artist-designed and beautiful and costly, which meant it was argued about for months before purchase. The night I was served divorce papers, I took it off and put it away in a safe place; replaced it immediately with the ring I bought for myself while pregnant with my daughter. I figured if I am in divorce, I will be for her solely. But there's no way I'd give up that wedding ring; I chose it, he decided to dump the marriage, it's still a beautiful ring, it will eventually go to my daughter.

I now wear two rings that look maybe like part of a set, both celebrating my motherhood, and my daughter. Sometimes I wonder if I will marry again, and if so, will I wear a wedding ring. Sometimes I think "No, and no." But sometimes also I think "Yes, and yes." And all I know is that the husband is going to be a fantastic man that I can respect and not boss around, and, the ring will probably be something emerald-cut, lol.

Ah, la. I am so hopeful. :D And utterly picky about jewelry. *sigh*

Not hard cord love Basset....hard core went out and had one too many drinks .... We went to a bar one night and met a tatoo artist thru a mutual friend.  Fast forward to 2am and we're at their house...both got tatooes on our ring fingers..Ironically though, we both have same 3 initials, haha!

I wore my ring after my seperation in pure hope that my marriage could and would be saved. When that hope died, the ring came off.

You got letters on your fingure tatoo? That's hard core love. Not gonna be easy making that one go away.

I took my ring off months ago becuase it was to painful to look at. I stored it in a keep take box and labled it with my daughter's name. J will get my ring when she is older. I now have a nice ring I wear in it's place. Never felt better for it.

Life, I have no idea what happened to mine.  After my motorcycle accident when I had to have it cut off my swollen hand, I never had it fixed.  And I lost it, I guess. And I really don't care.  When the ex asked me what happened to it, I told him, I don't know.  It wasn't that important to me.
