Halloween Heaven

The best Halloween I ever had. This year really was the best Halloween with J leading the way. J is only 3 and this was her really first full Halloween experience. She did great. Way better than I ever expected her to do. After days of explaining to her about how Halloween works and what to do with trick or treat, J set out around 7 pm to a magical moment I will never forget. J practice all day saying ‘trick or treat’ and ‘thank you’ before we took off. I told J that she did not have to go or do anything she didn’t want to and it was okay to be afraid of things, but J stood her grounds and took the lead on the whole thing. With her fairy costume on, wings and all, J took me by the hand and went door after door knocking, saying trick or treat, and thank you as she walked me around with her new found candy fortune. Not once did J get scared or back away from the Halloween decorations she encounter and J held her manners perfectly. I took the camcorder with us and recorded J in her costume as she did what I hope she would do, have fun and enjoy herself. After a little over an hour of trick or treat J’s pumpkin bucket was filled and she struggled to carry it with both hands. At that point she said she has enough candy and we can go home. Of course I screened all the candy for any issues and add some candy to hers that I already bought in advance. It was heaven. J had her first real Halloween experience and gave me my best one. The family I grew up with never really did holidays of any kind. Minimum at most so Halloween was never a noticeable mark to me or my siblings. With J, I wanted it to be different. Better than what I had and it was just that. J did great and made this my best Halloween ever. It’s amazing what a 3 year old can do with being their simple self’s. I can’t wait to take her out next year for Halloween. Now the issue comes in mind, does anyone want to barrow a 3 year old girl who’s on an all day sugar high? Lol, J is going to be wired with energy today and I have house stuff to do including laundry and my last chance to study before a major test on Monday for my legal health class. O ye, this is going to be my day after, lol. These are the moments and memories that make being a parent worth every sacrifice and suffering. Well, maybe with J on her sugar high, she can explain to me what ‘ Res ipsa loquitur ‘ means. It’s on my test, lol. Anyways, I’m just enjoying life with J and J made Halloween special, sugar high and all.

Good for you :-) Daughter is 15 and "too cool for the Halloween stuff" but the boys had a blast. One was a vampire and my little one was Darth Vader. It was great to see parents and kids enjoying themselves. Glad to hear you had a blast.

Abrazos.
