When
we marry we have rings to symbolize both the engagement and the wedding. Now a few companies are offering
"divorce rings," to mark the end of the relationship. Do these rings help us let go, or do they
keep the sadness at finger's length?
“I
think looking at a divorce ring everyday is not going to make you happy,” says
jeweler Jim Kruger. He believes it's
better to buy a diamond stud, or some other piece of jewelry. “It’s something
she can wear everyday and it makes her happy when she looks at it.”
Laurie
Lansford disagrees. She created Transition
Rings as a sign of hope. Her web site offers butterflies, sail boats,
and even band aids as a way of moving on.
Lansford isn't just the owner, she's a client too. She wears a ring to
commemorate the end of her 28 year marriage.
Whatever
your feelings, if they involve a ring, be sure, there's somebody out there who
makes one.
