going alone

I just got home from the movies.  It was the first time in 10 yrs that I went to the movies alone.  Got thru it fine.  The hardest part is seeing the other couples & knowing that I won't be a part of that stuff for who knows how long or if ever.  But the movie I saw was a good choice for my first one alone.  It was MAMA MIA!  Really good movie!  It was very funny, great music, & very entertaining.  It's loosely based on ABBA music, if you didn't know that already.  I may sound like a big dork when I say this but ABBA ROCKS!  I didn't realize how many good songs they made.  I went straight to the music store & bought their CD after the movie.  I rocked out to it all the way home.  Good thing it was dark out because the other drivers would have gotten quite a show.

Going alone to a movie was one of the first things I did when I moved out. I totally wanted to do it. I even sneaked out so my kids didn't want to tag along, lol. I have a girlfriend who does it all the time. I felt funny laughing alone but it was cool.
hey I guess we can now go together.

I don't know anything about the art.  I only keep it because I like to read the articles and the subtitles. ;)

"...about the porn..." - Hmmm... So is this to say that the "...CD..." (...8-Track, cassette, etc...) is actually in front of the "stylistic art" collection that you have? ;-p

Yeah, ABBA.  Funny thing.  Go visit the hardest rocking true music fans you know. Dig past the Metallica, and the Scorpions.  If they're diverse, you'll have to move a few Cure, and Black Flag CDs too, but I promise you, in the back of the closet is at least 1 ABBA CD.

I have 3.  They're stashed next to the ELO and BeeGees, behind the porn... ;)

OK, I'm kidding, but only about the porn.

"...ABBA..." - It is always a question of perspective.

I talked with a friends wife earlier today to discover that  "...the movie was just awful..."! I informed my friend of this when we met for breakfast and he had the oddest response: "...good that you told me this, it is one less thing that she and him will need to talk about...". I was surprised by his response and asked for him to elaborate; wherein, he declined to do so. Back to the movie: Personally, I had not thought about seeing it; although, if a lady friend of mine that I am dating indicates a desire to see it, we will.

Now, as for going to the movies alone: I plan on scheduling a whole day of back to back to back movies so that I can just totally absorb a part of my past life in something that I liked to do a long, long time ago... Just to let go... Oh, an if there is anyone in the Chicago area that would like to do the same, you are welcome to join in... ;-)

good for you for going to the movies alone.  taking off for the movie theatre alone can be a great refuge....dark, quiet, big bag of popcorn, chocolate and a drink....and a great movie...what more could you ask for.  oh..the 2 hours of nobody bugging you is great too.

Well he may be right.  I only saw a few guys in the theater.  If I were still with my stbx, I wouldn't have been able to see it either.

my hubby refuses to go see that movie with me...apparently the newscast he watches at the hospital dogged it as a girly girl movie...lol
