Single Parenting When You Have Disabilities 

I haven’t talked about it much, but I’ve been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.  RA destroys your joints and eventually I might be completely disabled.  Right now I have lots of swelling in my feet, hands, knees, and back.  I am in lots of pain.  

I’m a single mom, and I know it’s time I really take a look at how I’m going to parent my very active son and daughter alone as this disease progresses.    Is anyone else in this position?  Can anyone offer some advice?   I feel like my kids are being cheated.  I can’t take them to amusement parks, fireworks, etc. 

Things that involve a lot of walking or physical activity.  I get really worn out, and my feet swell where the R.A. is during ball games that my diva cheers at or little man plays in.

Diva is going to cheer in December in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl and I was asked to go as a chaperon.  I’m worried about all the walking and the busy, busy schedule they have set with all the activities for the cheerleaders.

I have to find some solutions to this.
