Restraining Order

My divorce attorney had a restraining order issued.  It wasn't issued because of any danger I was in.  It was put in place to stop ex from entering the house or coming on property until the divorce was settled because marital property was being removed while I wasn't there.  My attorney told me it was very common in our state to issue a restraining order for this  purpose.

Needless to say Ex wasn't very happy about it, but the order worked both ways and kept me from removing property, too.  Of course by the time it was issued, all the valuable things that could be sold for anything were gone.  The stuff in the house was all at least ten years old, but the garage had a lot of tools in it that were newer.  He pulled in a flatbed trailer when I was gone and emptied it out.   It had a new car engine that we bought with my 401k from a job I left for a 1970 camaro his parents bought him when he graduated that never ran.  He also took our boat and all the boating gear stored in it.  I know he sold the car and engine.  I'm pretty sure he still has the power saws and air tools.  Things were missing from the house.  The silverware was half gone and the bath towels were more than half gone. I'm sure there were other things that I don't remember.   He didn't help pay the household bills for at least three months.

I don't think I have one single thing left from my married days.  It all wore out, died, and had to be replaced long ago.  I'll bed those power tool still work, though.

You know what? It doesn't matter because eventually you'll meet someone else and he'll buy you new thing's. Or you'll get a better salary, and buy yourself new things-and they will be all yours. All that ends in the past never has value in a future. Why bring the old to the new....you can stop dwelling, just appreciate your life and your children that you have. Oh, and that you can afford a lawyer.
Divorce sucks without one. And thing's could have been so much worse. Trust me, I know this because my sitchuation is bad, but I see a lot WORSE! Okay?? Take care of yourself.
