Is She Going To Buy Him A Present This Christmas?

Buying Christmas this year just means buying for one less person, yes, you guessed it!!! It's for him. Now, I didn't buy him a present last year either, but had to help my daughter buy one so it was nearly the same thing. This year, she is old enough to take care of that on her own, but will she actually do it? He made no attempt to even see her for her birthday, didn't come to her quinceanera, didn't send a card---nothing. He doesn't come around at all, so will she go out and buy her dad something this year? Well, you got me on that one because I don't even know right now. I am not going to say anything to her either way because I want her to make up her own mind about what to do, but if she asks my opinion, I will most likely tell her to at least get him something because he is her father......Ok, don't jump on what I just said, I just want my daughter to do what she feels is right. So, I wonder, Will she buy him a gift after all?  Time will tell.

well, as of today, tues, and only 2 days until Christmas, she nor I have heard anything from her father. She has his presents here for him and decided to try and call him this past Sunday afternoon, but she got nothing. She left him a message and I just don't know why but he has not responded.  Do I call him and ask him what's going on????  or do I just leave things where they lie and let him deal with a very hurt and angry teen? She was very disheartened that he has not made any attempts to contact her. What would you do?

I think what she bought is great, it was from the heart and from her so it wouldn't matter what she bought if he was a great dad he would say thank you, hug her and make her feel that she gave him the best gift...  Kudos mom, you raised a great kid......

Well, here's the scoop!  I took my daughter to the store yesterday to do some shopping. I asked her if she was going to buy anything for her father.  She was not sure about what to do. I told her that no matter what, she needs to do what she thinks is right. I also told her that she doesn't have to buy a lot, and that something simple would most likely do. She told me that she would buy something small for him, just to show him that she is still thinking about him and loves him.  She ended up buying him some warm working gloves to work in when he works outdoors along with some trail mix (which he loves).  She hasn't wrapped them yet and hasn't spoke of delivering them either, so I guess we will see. What do you think about what she bought?

I agree with purebedinip. You are doing the right thing by telling her that. If she decides against it then that's her choice.

Thankyou so much.  You know, that after all this time, he would welcome me back with open arms, but I can never go back.

Hmmm, I wonder also if she will.

If she asks your opinion and you tell her she should, that is you being a good parent.  No matter what your dispute is with the ex, you are not reflecting that on your daughter.

You are a good and moral person. You are raising your daughter properly.
