Do Smarter Women Equal Divorce?

A recent Australian study looked at women, education, and divorce.  What they found is that women who are better educated than their husbands are more likely to divorce.

Researchers suggest there are two primary reasons for this.  Better educated women are more self sufficient.  This clears some of the barriers blocking them from divorce.  The second reason is the friction caused by maintaining a non-traditional marriage.

According to the study, the lowest level of divorce occurred between husbands and wives who both have a college education.  Some factors do exist that will detract from that likelihood though, such as alcohol and smoking.

The study also linked children, and religion as other binding factors that kept couples together.

I'm college educated and my ex was not.

Was he not happy because I was more educated than him?  Not sure, don't care.
