Divorced, and Halloween with kids

It's Halloween and it's Friday night.  I'm single.  Shouldn't I be out on the town or something?  Instead here I am, prepping the pumpkins, donning the costumes and preparing for trick or treating with my kids once again.  Not that I really mind.  But in ten years of being divorced, I am the one that has taken the kids out every single year.  Seems my ex always 'has other plans'.  I'm not really complaining.  I love spending the extra time with my kids.  They are getting so big, so fast, in fact I'm surprised they still go out honestly.  But they do.  I just wonder why it is that I am always the one doing all of the wonderful things with my kids.  Does he ever feel like he's missing out?  I wonder if these things just don't matter to him, or if he just gives them up because he knew they mattered to me.  Anyway, I'm on my way out and can't wait, as this may be the last year for it in my house!

Have fun!! This is my 2nd year that I get to take my kids out trick or treating. My older is 2, and my younger is 1. They're going to be so cute. I did the pumpkin-carving thing last night.

He's missing out all right. I took my kids to Zoo Boo last weekend, this thing where the kiddos dress up in their costumes and go to the Zoo where they have all kind of festivities going on. Anyway, I told my ex (who is supposedly 1200 miles away) about it and he tells me " Be sure to get pictures". Yeah, yeah, I'll get him some pictures--that way, he can tell his family/friends he's a concerned  and involved parent. Just so you know--he moved away from the kids--not the other way around.

Anyhoo, have a great time, be careful, and enjoy this Halloween with your kids!! :o)
