My Kids Just Don't Give Up!

My doughier came in the door last night from visiting with her dad for a couple of hours and says, "Mom, guess what dad's ringtone is?  It's Anymore."

Immediately I tell her, "Don't even go there."

For those who aren't country music fans, the song "Anymore" is by Travis Tritt and talks about how he is still in love with someone he broke up with and that's he's tired of hiding his feelings for her.  Yeah.

They never give up.  I would have thought after four years they would get the picture.  If I talk to him at one of their activities when we get home they are questioning me about why I was talking to him.  I don't know how to get them to see that it's not going to happen.

Any advice?

Kids will never give up. Rightly so, all kids want to see their parents together. My advice is that you change and make no comments on their hopes. I mean, let them have that hope. Why do you have the need to dampen their spirts. Let them be. They are kids and they want to believe in something that was once (and is) beautiful ... a husband and a wife = my mother and my father. Mellow out woman. Let them have their hopes. Did you tell them that Santa Clause does not exist? It is no big deal and you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I guess when he decided to cheat on you, he dug his own grave.  Sin doesn't come without a price.
